Punjab countryside — Geranos Getaways

Geranos Getaways

Our Story

How Punjab found us. How India shaped us. And why we built something to make sure no destination suffers the fate of being arrived, photographed, and departed.

Read our story ↓

"We were a young couple in the Army when Punjab found us. We were posted in Gobindgarh, near Abohar, along the banks of the Indira Gandhi Canal. Unhurried at first glance. Full of vigour if you chose to see it."

Where it began

And we chose to see it

The mustard fields, the gentle whisper of flowing water, the community bathing at tube wells, the unbridled joy of biting into a juicy Kinnow straight from the tree. The mud houses, the earthy people, the simplicity of life. A riot of colour and warmth, in which three years disappeared in a blink.

Punjab had lit something in us that would not go out.

We travelled. We experienced the length and breadth of the country, carrying that same curiosity Punjab had given us. But as we moved on in time, something troubled us. We watched people reduce the joy of travel to ticking off a bucket list. Arrived. Photographed. Departed. Hundreds of destinations suffered this fate. And so did our beloved Punjab.

We wanted people to relive what we had experienced in those three years.

— The journey that started it all

The founding

Back to where it started

Rajshree completed her MBA in Tourism. Rajiv completed his Army service, joined ISB Mohali, and discovered the power of storytelling. And then, as if the journey had always been circular, we were back in Punjab — where our dream had started.

Together, we built Geranos Getaways — based at the Atal Incubation Centre, Indian School of Business, Mohali — where ideas are taken seriously and given room to grow.

In our itineraries, we encourage you to unshackle yourself from time. Share a meal with strangers. Listen to a folk song even when you do not understand a word. Ride a tractor at dusk. Milk a cow. Let yourself simply be.

Come back different. Come back clearer.

Why Geranos?

Geranos is the Greek name for the crane — the majestic bird that crosses the Himalayas not because the journey is easy, but because what waits on the other side is worth every cold night. Our motto came to us effortlessly: Rediscover Yourself.

In our logo, the crane is depicted in the shape of the letter G, placed at the centre of a traditional Indian rangoli — representing the happiness, positivity, and liveliness of every household we visit. The bright, multiple colours celebrate the joy of travel across this extraordinary country.

How we travel

The Geranos invitation

Every itinerary is an invitation to step off the treadmill and actually be somewhere.

01

Unshackle from time

Leave the schedule at home. Our itineraries build in breathing room — because the best moments of any journey are unplanned.

02

Share a meal with strangers

Food is the fastest way into a culture. We put you at tables where the host's pride is in the cooking, not the menu.

03

Listen without understanding

A folk song in a language you don't know can move you more than any translation. We take you to those moments.

04

Ride a tractor at dusk

Milk a cow. Walk a farm at sunrise. Let the rhythm of a place replace the rhythm of your routine — even for just a day.

05

Let yourself simply be

Not every moment needs a photograph. Some need only you — present, quiet, and open to what the place has to say.

06

Come back different

Come back clearer. The farther we travel from our routines, the closer we come to who we truly are.
